Danish Early Modern Art

Large parts of the Collection of Danish Early Modern Art are once again displayed together, after having been lent out to other museums for a number of years.

The collection consists of a fairly small group of paintings, sculptures, and ceramics made by Danish artists between c. 1880 and 1950. It includes work by Theodor Philipsen, Jens Ferdinand Willumsen, L. A. Ring, and Peter Hansen, and 11 works by Vilhelm Hammershøi. In contrast to the museum’s other two collections, all the works of art in the Collection of Danish Early Modern Art were acquired by C. L. David himself.
