One important reason for C. L. David’s interest in the Danish art of his day was his family ties to the sculptor and painter Agnes Lunn (1850-1941), his mother’s cousin. Agnes Lunn’s little sculptures heightened David’s interest in the statuette, a popular art form among collectors at the beginning of the 20th century, and one that David himself prized.
