A small museum with a world-class collection
The David Collection is an exclusive museum in the heart of Copenhagen. Here you can find one of the most comprehensive collections of Islamic art in the Western world, a fine selection of European 18th-century art and a smaller, but exquisite, representation of Danish early modern painting, sculpture and ceramics.
We look forward to welcoming you to a unique museum experience with ample opportunity to immerse yourself in the works of art and the many stories they tell.
Pearls from the Collection - Vilhelm Hammershøi
Until January 4, 2026Starting February 15, we present a special display of Vilhelm Hammershøi featuring 10 selected works from the museum's collection. Experience well-known landscape motifs, interior paintings, and the portraits, Double Portrait of the Artist and His Wife, 1892, one of the few double portraits Hammershøi created of himself and his wife. The exhibition also features Nude Female Model, 1910, a close and unembellished depiction of a female body, strongly illuminated and brought prominently to the foreground.
Jette Bang - Portrait of Qatar's Bedouins
March 21, 2025 - January 4, 2026In 1959, Jette Bang documented life among Qatar’s nomadic tribes through photographs and footage for the film Bedouins. This exhibition highlights her unique ability to blend documentary photography with artistic aesthetics.
The result is a collection of intimate images that poetically depict everyday life among the Bedouins. Her timeless works, captured with a classic Rolleiflex camera, beautifully capture culture, nomadic life, and human presence.
